Wizards 2020: Celebrating a community of innovators!

Wizards is a global ideation program that allows Akamai employees to submit their innovative ideas and contribute to the business transformation of Akamai. The program has been running for eight years and has received more than 5000 idea submissions. We are proud that Akamai products like Page Integrity and Enterprise Threat Protector were once ideas on the Wizards portal, as were more than 45 other successful suggestions.

Akamai Wizards.png2020 was an incredible year for innovation at Akamai, and the Wizards program was again at the forefront of innovation.

In the beginning of the year, the pandemic forced us to go entirely virtual. But despite the challenges, we still had a calendar full of events, including 20 ideation sessions, 10 innovation challenges, 3 contests, and 2 WizTalk webinars across 10 global locations. In total, more than 1900 people participated in the program. The idea generation activities from January to September helped us gather 642 ideas, which were then carefully evaluated by more than 100 reviewers.

During Tech Week in December, the eight Wizards finalists presented their ideas in front of a stellar panel that included 23 Akamai leaders, including CEO and Co-Founder, Tom Leighton. We would like to celebrate the spirit of innovation at Akamai by congratulating the winners.
