Introducing New RUM-based Website Performance Benchmarks!

End users expect nothing short of a flawless experience when visiting your website. A slow-performing, error-prone website can lead to significant losses in revenue and brand value.

Do you know how your website performs for real users compared to other similar sites?

We are excited to tell you about a new, freely accessible tool on developer.akamai.com that shows you how your website is performing for real users, compared to other top sites in your industry. Traditionally, performance benchmarks have only been available through synthetic web performance tests. Our new tool is one of the first to feature real user monitoring (RUM) data from Google's Chrome User Experience (CrUX) Report for RUM-based performance benchmarks.

It's very easy to use the tool:

  1. Find your domain within the CrUX dataset

  2. Choose an industry to benchmark against

  3. See how your website performed for real users versus the top 5 players in your industry, across different device types and browser timing metrics

This is just the beginning of RUM-based competitive benchmarks. Later this year, we'll be introducing additional RUM benchmarking capabilities directly into Akamai's own RUM product, mPulse.

Our universal, intelligent RUM solution, mPulse, can help you monitor, diagnose, and fix website performance issues to improve end user experience. mPulse's detailed reporting provides granular performance insights and advanced error analysis. It correlates these with key business metrics such as conversions, page views, and revenue. Use mPulse to quickly pinpoint what's slowing your site down so you can make informed decisions about how to best optimize your site and stay in front of your competitors.
