Last week at Akamai's Edge 2015 Conference in Miami I had the distinct pleasure of spending time with Andi Gall, the enigmatic and paradigm-shattering CTO of Red Bull Media House. This was Andi's second appearance as an Edge keynote speaker, and once again he completely captivated 1,500 people in the live audience.
A pioneer in the media and technology worlds, Red Bull Media House brings to life stories of people doing things that defy imagination, and often physics. They accomplish this by innovating relentlessly and delivering a production quality so good that it makes us believe we are first-person witnesses to some of the greatest adventures ever recorded.
In his Edge presentation, Andi shared Red Bull Media House's formula for groundbreaking innovation. He spoke about pathfinders and technical innovation and heroes, but really it came down to something much simpler. Their secret is encoded in way they keep asking the question - why not?
It sounds almost too simple. But asking why not? constantly divorces Andi and his team from disbelief. It pushes them beyond the known boundaries of media and technology to invent new ways to engage us, his loyal "adventurees," in a world beyond our daily reach.
The first to admit that he has the best job in the world, Andi works unencumbered by common corporate paradigms. He makes it his mission to change the world through media and adventure, and to support the athletes and explorers and pathfinders that seek every day to find the boundaries of the human condition.
